Of everything you'll buy for your wedding, your band is the one thing you'll wear every single day for the rest of your life. But when you step into a jewellery shop, you get hit with a wall of options. Yellow gold or white gold? Platinum? Thin or wide? Before you know it, the price has crept up, and you've only just remembered you need two of them.
So let's cut through the sparkle. As of October 2026, a plain 18K gold wedding band in Singapore costs about S$850 to S$3,880 per ring, while a plain platinum band costs about S$1,040 to S$3,060.
Keep in mind that jewellers price each ring on its own, and as a couple, you're buying two.
Every figure here comes from Singapore jewellers' own published price lists, which we checked in October 2026.
How jewellers price a band
The metal sets your starting price, and then width, weight and ring size move it from there. Yellow gold bands in 916 or 999 run from about S$390 to S$5,200 per ring. Those two stamps mean 22-karat and 24-karat gold, and the price follows the weight of your own ring.
Fancy a little sparkle? Diamond set bands cost about S$700 to S$4,500, and one jeweller lists a band covered in diamonds all the way round at about S$13,700 to S$14,600. Dazzling, but ouch.
Width moves the price more than most couples expect. At one jeweller, the same 18K band costs about S$1,950 at 4 mm and S$3,800 at 8 mm, so nearly twice the price for twice the width. A plain 18K band 4 mm wide costs about S$1,500 to S$1,950, while at 6 mm a few jewellers charge about S$2,400 to S$2,900. Watching your budget? A slim band of 2 to 3 mm sits near the bottom of the 18K range.
Here's a surprise. Platinum isn't always the dearer metal. At one jeweller, a 4 mm platinum band costs less than the same band in 18K gold, and at another it costs more. It's worth checking the purity stamp, too, as one jeweller sells the same 4 mm band in Platinum 600 for about S$840 and in Platinum 950 (that's 95 per cent platinum) for about S$1,620.
Even your finger size counts. At one jeweller, a platinum band in size 21 costs S$160 more than the same band in size 16. Matching pairs are sold as two rings with two prices, and in plain gold and platinum pairs, the men's ring often costs more. Sorry, gents!
Yellow gold is also the metal of si dian jin, the four pieces of gold given to the bride at Guo Da Li, the Chinese betrothal gift exchange. Just remember that set is a separate purchase from your wedding bands.

What is usually included and what is usually extra
| Usually included | Usually extra |
|---|---|
| Engraving a short message inside | A birthstone set inside the band |
| One free resize | Resizing after the free period |
| Delivery in 4 to 7 working days | Express delivery |
| Standard widths in stock | A custom width or design |
| Cleaning or polishing at some shops | Removing engraving on a return |
The catch
"Free resizing" is often a one time deal. At one jeweller, you have to use it within 60 days, and it only covers one full size. Another jeweller resizes up to three sizes, but may still charge for the work.
Think twice before you engrave, too. Engraved rings can't be exchanged at one jeweller, and another may charge to remove the engraving if you return the ring.
If you're buying gold bands in 916 or 999, know that they follow the gold rate. The price at checkout is set on the day you pay, based on the weight of your own ring, so ask for the quote on the day you plan to pay. And read the price tag closely, because in October 2026, one jeweller showed a list price with 15 per cent off beside it on its wedding bands.
Finally, if you're shopping online, watch the returns policy. One jeweller gives no refunds on online orders, only one exchange within 10 days.

Five questions to ask before you pay a deposit
- What is the band's width in millimetres?
- Is the metal 18K gold, Platinum 950 or a lower purity?
- Does the price include GST?
- How many free resizes are included, and for how many days?
- Can an engraved ring still be exchanged?
When to book
Order your bands about three months before your solemnisation or ROM. Bands made to order take 4 to 12 weeks, and at one jeweller, a resize after the fitting adds another 3 to 4 weeks, so leave yourself some breathing room.
In a hurry? Designs already in stock are much quicker and ship in 4 to 7 working days.
Questions couples ask
Platinum or 18K gold for a wedding band?
It depends on your preferences. A plain platinum band costs about S$1,040 to S$3,060 and a plain 18K band costs about S$850 to S$3,880. Choose platinum for a white band that never needs replating, and choose 18K for yellow or rose gold.
Is 916 or 999 gold better for a wedding band?
999 gold is purer and softer, but one jeweller warns that it dents easily. 916 gold is 22-karat and costs less per gram than 999.
Do wedding rings need to match?
No, because each ring is priced and sold on its own. You can pick a different metal, width or finish for each partner.

Your next step
You've found the perfect bands, so now make sure someone's there to capture the moment you slip them on. That ring exchange lasts just a few seconds, but it's a photo you'll treasure forever. Book the photographer who'll catch it using the photographer rates table, where each row lists its extra fees, so there are no surprises on the bill.
